Mum is going to have lung surgery Wed morning, then another (I assume on the other side) on the 15th. She'll hopefully be out of the hospital by the 20th. They're going to go and try to resect out all the lung mets. We're all very hopeful as surgical resection has worked well for her before (the liver surgery)
She and Dad went to Portland today for kind of initial appt with the surgeon, and we were all figuring that what with getting insurance approval etc this wouldn't go forward till like next week. So things moved faster than we were expecting!
I decided to drive up, I'm not sure how long I'll be able to stay up there, hopefully the whole time. If work gets antsy I guess I'll have to play it by ear. I'll be bringing my laptop and working remotely, so hopefully the hospital (OHSU) has good wireless!
argh, OK, I really gotta pack. I'm going to go into work till about noon tomorrow, then just leave from there, and head up the I5. I'll find a place to crash overnight probably in Eugene, then get up early to make it into Portland Wednesday morning. Mum is scheduled to start the surgery process at 8am.

Date: 2012-05-08 04:35 pm (UTC)Pearl's specialists were at OHSU and I'm very familiar with the children's hospital. it's a beautiful huge campus (I"m sure it has great wireless, it is on a hilltop so not right in the heart of the city but it's very modern and up-to-date - by far the best hospital in the area between Seattle and Sacramento). There are Starbucks kiosks and cafeterias and then you're right above downtown so you could get more exciting food on a quiet day. Would love to see you and spoil you while you're here and help in any way I can with groceries, hosting, meals... we are right across the river and cheering you all on! Love to you.
