May. 11th, 2012 11:18 amMum is doing better this morning. She had a rough night and afternoon yesterday with the pain, and I felt bad leaving her last night :(
It seems to be much more under control today tho, and she really notices how much better she feels.
She's been sitting up in her chair all morning, and even took a walk around the ICU.
Just waiting until a bed in the regular ward opens up and then she'll be moved out.

May. 7th, 2012 09:36 pmMum is going to have lung surgery Wed morning, then another (I assume on the other side) on the 15th. She'll hopefully be out of the hospital by the 20th. They're going to go and try to resect out all the lung mets. We're all very hopeful as surgical resection has worked well for her before (the liver surgery)
She and Dad went to Portland today for kind of initial appt with the surgeon, and we were all figuring that what with getting insurance approval etc this wouldn't go forward till like next week. So things moved faster than we were expecting!
I decided to drive up, I'm not sure how long I'll be able to stay up there, hopefully the whole time. If work gets antsy I guess I'll have to play it by ear. I'll be bringing my laptop and working remotely, so hopefully the hospital (OHSU) has good wireless!
argh, OK, I really gotta pack. I'm going to go into work till about noon tomorrow, then just leave from there, and head up the I5. I'll find a place to crash overnight probably in Eugene, then get up early to make it into Portland Wednesday morning. Mum is scheduled to start the surgery process at 8am.

Dec. 29th, 2010 08:01 amI fly up to Oregon tomorrow at 12:49pm. No seat assigned, cause it's the usual oversell, so I plan to get to the airport nice and early and will hope for the best. Cause the worst is that all the other flights (and there are not many to Redmond/Bend) that day are booked out, so it would be a flight for the next day.
Actually, the worst is that Katy and Jack are coming out as well (well, of course that's not bad!) we're actually going to be together on that same flight from SFO to Redmond, however I'm really worried that her flight from BOS to SFO will be stuffed up. I'd thought that all this flying mess would be figured out by now, but it's clearly not. At least it shouldn't be a weather thing.
It would be ironic if her plane is delayed, and that's how I get my seat on the plane...

Nov. 7th, 2009 05:18 pmwent into the city early today to watch my favourite almost 10 yr old at her skating competition. She came in first in her group, yay!
After that, I meandered around and did some shopping. It was a beautiful day up in the city. Got a few shirts and some makeup. It was nice to just wander around on my own, hadn't done that in ages.
ok, now off to convince Chris we need Chinese for tea. Green beans, mmmm.

beige soup, tasty...
Oct. 20th, 2009 09:55 pmHad some grey-ish beige soup today. Potato-leek. Tasted as appetising as it looked. I bought two packs, think I'll be ditching the other one.
heading out to Sacto this weekend for Worshipping the Beast, woo! The Burgundy Topz city rally, which I haven't been to before, I've only been to their camping rally (April). Will be setting up the trailer for the first time for a two bike set up (and of course that would be my wonderful Chris doing that!) and taking the Bajaj for it's first rally! With Sacto being nice and flat, I think it will be a good start. My clubmate Erin is coming with me. The weather sounds like it will be spectacular, so I can't wait! One last rally before the weather turns ;)

Later today I will be in Portland, WOO! Staying over tonight with
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
Then tomorrow I will be in Seattle, for the Fremont Fair.
So happy to have a little vacation.
Wish Chris could have come with, he's too slammed with work. He finished being a juror last Thursday. Murder trial, ugh. Poor thing said he had a nightmare about it the other night.
RIP Tom Kennedy
Apr. 13th, 2009 12:34 pmHmm, I always seem to be posting depressing things lately. I'll have to do a happier post later...

long weekend, woo!
Feb. 12th, 2009 01:55 pmChris and I both have this Mon Pres Day off work, I'm very tempted for us to get outta town for the weekend if we can.
But, where to go? Camping in the NV desert? Off to Gold Country? Up the coast?
We have stuff we can do at home tho, so maybe just a day trip up north on one of the days. I just don't wanna loaf around too much if we don't go away. I pretty much just loafed the last two weekends, which was nice, but I gotta get a few things done! Must be motivated!

Jan. 25th, 2009 05:47 pmoy vey, my feet are so tired!!! Walked around the CHA show for pretty much 9 hours straight, with some quick sit downs to plot my next aisle!
met lots of our vendors, saw some new products, went past lots and lots of scrapbooking stuff, boy is that crowd, mmm, colourful!
Avoided Paris Hilton like the plague :) Hadn't brought my camera anyway.
Have an hour to rest up, then off for a customer dinner. Not a big deal for me, I just need to be nice and let my managers do the talking and enjoy my free meal :)
"interesting" billboard
Jan. 6th, 2009 10:33 pmthere's this billboard I see from the 80 in the city, it's for Israel, and it has this bevy of ladies walking along in some city (and as far as I can tell, a pretty generic looking city, albiet quite cosmopolitan and sunny I suppose) and the tag line says "Not like the Israel on television".
I dunno, it just doesn't sell me, it kinda weirds me out.

woo, new laptop!
Jan. 6th, 2009 08:40 pmthe old one (well, it was only 2 yrs old, so that kinda sucked) crapped out it's motherboard. Looked on Costco.com and they had a nice HP refurbished laptop for $500, clicky cliky and now it's here. Gotta try and pull all the stuff of the old one, but that's a project for Chris :)
This is actually now the nicest, fastest, biggest storage computer in the house, haha.
so, Xmas was nice. Dinner turned out great! My first attempt at the family recipe Cauliflower Gratin turned out quite respectably! We still have leftovers tho, that should really just get tossed.
Sunday night after Xmas we went over to a gathering at Chris's friends place, and lots of nice spicy food and too much drink and I was not happy on Monday and went home after 1/2 hour. Don't know if it was too much excess, or mild food poisoning, but ugh. Being sick while driving, not good (sorry, TMI? haha)
A result of being sick is that my back muscles between my shoulder blades have been f*ed, that and also I fell asleep weirdly on my back Tuesday night for a couple of hours. We went over to an ArtCar friend's place for NYE, and it was nice, but I was in so much pain I only lasted till 10:45 then we went home.
The next day we went into the city for a party at a scooter friend's place, and she had a gal there doing chair massages, which I did, and which helped! She's a massuese that will come to your place, so I actually had a massage at home tonight and it was lovely! So nice not to have to go somewhere afterwards! Very reasonable rates too. Yesterday my back felt a lot better, but then I musta slept weird again cause this morning till 11am it was horrible! I was so relieved when it finally loosened up. So the timing of the massage was great.
This last weekend was great. Got a suprising amount done! Cleaned the bathroom. Went thru the bookcase in our room and culled out 4 boxes of book to sell/donate. Chris and I also made major strides in cleaning up the garage, it's looking so much better now and we're not even done! I'm hoping to be able to get rid of the wardrobe in the kitchen and move that stuff (including the bike gear - jacket and helmets) into the garage. Then the kitchen will be so much more open!
BWO (Big Wet One) rally this weekend, and forecast looks nice, phew! Yeah, BWO is the theme, but I'd still rather not ride in the rain. It's an inter-club rally, which is always nice. We're hosting the alley cat race on Sat.

Dec. 24th, 2008 05:08 pmwe got let out of work early, woo! Got to leave at 3pm.
I should be making the Cauliflower au Gratin, maybe later :)
as long as the rain holds off, am going to take a scooter ride with Chris over to Alameda to check out Xmas lights.
Skyped the rellies back home, so nice to see them all! May talk to them again later.
we'll be having boneless leg of lamb tomorrow, done on the bbq. I found great step by step directions with photos, so hopefully should go OK! Just need to decide between some spices or rosemary.
looking forward to a mostly quiet 4 days.
Merry Xmas y'all!

Dec. 3rd, 2008 05:38 pmwe had a great time in Klamath Falls, it was nice to go somewhere where there wasn't that much to do, as it meant that we did plenty of relaxing!
Mum is doing OK on her drugs (I haven't really mentioned it, but her kidney cancer spots in her lungs are big enough to treat, one is growing faster than the others and she's needed to start treatment), the typical side effects, but nothing too unmanageable, but she is tired a lot.
Lava Beds was fun, went down into quite a few caves. Also had really good italian food, there's a hidden gem restarant in KFalls, woo!
We did go see Australia of course! It was fun, although I was hoping for more out of it. It was like two movies, the first half was campy, but kinda not good campy, it just didn't seem to fit that much. There were also some weird effects where you could tell it was like a fake background, and I was thinking, Dude, you filmed up in the Top End, you had the beautiful locations, what's with weird look! Anyway, overall it was good. It wasn't like I couldn't NOT see it! :)

Nov. 5th, 2008 03:07 pmback at home. Cases all unpacked, and laundry in.
We got to hear the news while we were at the Air Newzealand lounge in Sydney (there's no United lounge there, and thankgoodness, cause it was schweet!) so it was OK for me to get on the place to come back!
Bummed about Prop8 tho. Haters.
Slept some on the plane, it was again not full, and I booted Chris to the row before us, so we each had 3 seats to spread out in. Now need to stay up to a semi regular time, then it's back to work tomorrow, boo.
