Where to stay in Seattle?

Am going up to Seattle in June for the Seattle Art Car Blowout, where we take part in the Fremont Fair. 

I do have an old friend in Seattle that I'll definately be seeing, and I could stay with her and her family, but they live 45miles away, and with being at the fair both days, and then whatever parties that will be going on in the evenings, I don't know if that will work out. 
I'm caravanning up with my artcar friend Emily, and we're thinking of sharing a hotel room for probably the Fri and Sat night, i think that's the 16th and 17th of June
Any recommendations? 
There's a place on Aurora called the Marco Polo motel which had a couple of reviews that said it was decent, basic but well run. if you've driven past it, does it look Ok, or is it sketchy?

I've actually had friends stay there. It was an okay place, fairly clean, not too sketchy. Their room had a weird layout, with a single bed in the front room and a queen in the back behind a sliding screen.

oh cool. good to know! We'll check the prices on that. That layout would work out well with us in two different beds anyway.
