So, Candi came in Sat, yay!

[livejournal.com profile] alero and I picked her up at the airport, then back to our place where we chatted for a while.
Then after, the all important shower for Candi (so one can revert back to human state, after all that travelling!) we went to Costco. Got some yummy cinnamon rolls that we had for breakfast Sunday.
We also went over to Borders, cause Candi wanted to pick up the Lonely Planet USA book.
We also saw Craftychica's new book there, which Candi bought.
It acknowledges Get Crafty and the Glitter girls, which we all thought was pretty cool!
Had dinner at home, Manicotti, zuchinni and salad.

Yesterday, Sunday Candi and I drove up to the city. We went over the Golden Gate bridge, and drove up and around the Marin Headlands a bit. Then back to the city, through the Marina, past Fisherman's wharf, thru Chinatown, along Market St a bit, then past Union Square. At this point we were thinking lunch, so I suggested JapanCenter.
Eek! The Cherry Blossom Festival was on! We managed to find parking not too far away. We watched a bit of the parade that was still going on. They had a large group of people all dressed up us anime characters that was pretty amusing. I'll have to download and post the pics I took.
We went and got a quite decent sushi lunch special. Then we walked up and down Filmore St and looked at the shops there. We walked up to the Kiehls shop, and got some free samples, woohoo! They have a Jurlique store on Filmore too that I didn't know was there. We also went in the L'occitaine store, and spritzed ourselves with various yummy things there.
Then we drove along to Haight street, and drove through the Haight Ashbury area to Golden Gate Park, then up to Twin Peaks (which was friggen cold!) where Candi was brave enough to use one of the automatic toilets there, so I finally got to peek inside one, woohoo!
Then back down, drove through the Castro to the Mission.
We were going to go to Pancho Villa Taqueria for dinner, but those darn Catholics and their Easter Sundays, they were closed! (just kidding!) So we went to Ticouz instead, and had soup, so that we could have desert crepes to fill us up.
Then we went to the poetry slam that [livejournal.com profile] afroflighty hosts. We only made it through watching the first round before we pooped out.
Looked at some maps when we got home, thinking about how Candi might be able to get out to Joshua Tree when she goes down to LA next week. She was also thinking about Death Valley, but I think that might be an awful long day trip. Unfortunately with just 2 days in Vegas this coming weekend, I don't think we can make it out to DV from LV either, there will be too much girly carousing and Liberace museum attending for that! Although I think we will check out either Red Rock canyon or Valley of Fire, and will certainly go to Hoover Dam.
Not sure what Candi is doing today, maybe just staying local, or going to a nearby mall on a shoe hunt. Getting stamps, and some maps at AAA too. South Bay/Peninsula SnB tonight though, that she's going to come along to.
We talked about some things she can do in the area this week. Marin Civic center tour this Wednesday, maybe going to Muir woods as well. An Alcatraz trip possibly tomorrow or Thursday. [livejournal.com profile] alero and I are going to show her our favourite East bay places on Friday.

I wish I was able to take off more time at work :( I love to go and be touristy with friends. But, will take Friday off, and then May 6-9 for our Portland/Seattle trip!

Oh yeah, when you are in the East Bay, go to a store called Zip Mama's on College Ave. in Oakland (a cute shopping district). They have susanstar's stuff there. :)

Those automatic toilets are crazy. They are like Star Trek.

Have fun on Friday! Hmmm, let me take a wild guess where you are going...
Wish I could be there too, but I have to work. :(

Just make sure you come get me on Friday! I'll be home at 5:30.
