Want to participate in a Holiday Home Show with me?

I had mentioned this to some of you guys, Miranda (director of the dance group I'm in) just sent out the info on it:

Fellow Artists,

We have chosen the date for the annual Holiday Home show and am putting word
out to artists and crafty friends to invite them to be a part of this year's
show.

Its fun. It's easy! There is no booth fee to participate, but ask each
artist to donate an item for charity*. Each person (or group) participating
must have a representative present during business hours. We ask everyone
participating to send out word/invitations to friends, family, their
customers, and email lists so that the promotion duties of this show is
shared. Also, please bring a goodie to put out on the refreshment table each
day. Easy, huh?

The show will be held at my house, and for those of you who have not seen it
yet, it's a huge Queen Anne Victorian. We'll set the mood with Holiday
tunes, the smell of simmering cider and cookies baking in the oven.

November 29th and 30th is the date. Confirm early as space is limited and
will be given upon a first come/first served basis. I'll send out more
details, and sample emails for your mailings upon your confirmation.

For those of you coming from out of town, we have five guest rooms and you
are more than welcome to stay the night. Just let me know, and I'll reserve
a room for you.

Thanks, hope to hear from you soon!

Her place is in downtown San Jose. I have replied to her already saying that I'm definately interested, and thought that some of you guys would be too - [livejournal.com profile] queen_puff_puff, do you still want to do this? We could probably share a 'space' dontcha think? I was planning on making fleece hats, and maybe some of those french memo ribbon boards in fun fabrics.

lemme know if you're interested

It's looking more and more like I will be in San Jose to lead the whole "Silicon Valley History Online" project, so I may be around.

I'd like to do it. My new thing is fleece hats for babies. That won't step on your toes too much will it?

I also may do some of my weird furry scarves.

Well, seeing as I'm stepping on Rox's toes re the fleece hats, then no, it won't at all. I don't think we need to worry about toe stepping at all in what we make. Everything we make is going to look different, have diff fabrics, materials etc.
We may want to confer on what prices we charge tho

Oh hon, you're not stepping on my toes at all! There's enough fleece for all!

(however, you will be stepping on my toes if you make a certain kind of craft with album covers, because I invented that you know!)

i would do it, probably making a few crocheted denim purses, but i will be back east for t-giving at that time (praying desperately for xtian to get along well with my parents) so i wouldn't be able to go to man the table at all or bake something. i'd be happy to donate something for charity (is it auctioned off or something). what do you think?

[identity profile] joeychen.livejournal.com 2003-09-29 07:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I should be able to do a lot of the table manning (although company will be nice!) Eeks, it is the weekend after Thanksgiving, hmmm I better look into if I have to go to Houston then.
I think the charity thing is that they live right next door to a women's shelter, so I think it's just a direct donation to them.

[identity profile] resurgam.livejournal.com 2003-09-29 08:22 pm (UTC)(link)
oh! okay.

so is it one donation/food item per table? and email laurie about it, she'd definitely be into it. she's been making knitted kerchiefs.

[identity profile] joeychen.livejournal.com 2003-09-29 08:53 pm (UTC)(link)
I can take care of the potluck food part of it, for the donation items, it would be nice if we all donated something, but I don't think it's necessary. Specially if you're only going to have a few things for sale.
What's Laurie's email?

[identity profile] kickasphalt.livejournal.com 2003-09-29 07:35 pm (UTC)(link)
i'm interested! after walking around and looking at the things the vendors at the "How Berkeley Can You Be" festival were selling, i feel confident that i could sell some things.

I would love to participate,I have a few things in the works.Have you done it before?Would clutches and embroidered pillowcases fit in?I could help man it too,and pot lucking it can be done as well!!
Let me know, and i'd be happy to chip in what be needed!

[identity profile] joeychen.livejournal.com 2003-09-30 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
that would fit in great.
Last year there was a lady with a whole ton of jewelry, alot of it antique beads. Now, it was very nice, but oh so expensive! Also someone with handblown glass ornaments, they were really nice and reasonable, I bought a couple of those as gifts. Someone who made fun pants and jackets in prints and velvets with fringe on the bottom edges. And then Miranda was selling the middle eastern jewelry and other assorted stuff that she vends at festivals.

Then I am totaly in,what do I need to do?!Or do I set up with you?Yay!

[identity profile] queen-puff-puff.livejournal.com 2003-09-30 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
Me! Yes, I would love to do this! I need to get my fanny in gear and get my sweatshop humming. How many items should we each bring?
