Grrrr
I haven't wanted to comment too much on the war issues, because yes, I am anti-war, I still feel like I don't know enough of the info to say a lot about it.
But this really irritated me, so I'm gonna rant about it.
I was just listening to BBC World Today on NPR, and they were playing some messages from Americans about the war. This lady in Miami said she supported Bush, even though she was didn't like the idea of war, cause she was anti-terrorist. She said that she was originally from New York, her family was there, and she knew 'many' people that died on 9/11 (which personally sounded like gross exaggeration to me). She claimed that the rest if the world didn't know what it felt like to be the victim of this horrible terrorist attack, and they don't understand why we have to do this, blah blah, boo hoo hoo.
What a bunch of scheisse!
Hellooo! Um, IRA bombings, Palestinian and Israeli bombings, India/Pakistan conflict, various events all over Europe, Asia, Africa. The Bali bombings that affected Australia much more per capita of population then did 9/11.
Her blind assumption that no other country has had to endure such an event.
God, wake up and smell the Sanka sweetheart.

I was talking to someone today about all this war business. What kind of emergency plan we need to have in our community if war breaks out. When I think about how war would actually affect my comfortable little world it doesn't mean much to me. I feel very shallow. I feel spoiled and ashamed.
Hope that makes sense. If war breaks out, it isn't going to be on my street. There won't be bombs on my street. I will not have soldiers with guns on my street. I will not have tanks destroying things on my street. I will not watch the children in my family get murdered. I will not have my home destroyed and be separated from my loved ones. Thank God I will probably never have to know what these things are like.
When people here talk about war and what sacrifices it will bring in their everyday lives, they have no idea what sacrifice is.
Hope all of this makes sense. Guess I have met too many people like that woman from the radio lately. Too worried about the price of filling up their SUV's and too worried about America losing it's status as #1. Not worried enough about human lives.
