My morning at Immigration and Chinatown

Well, this morning Mr jo and I went up to Application Service Center for Immigration up in SF to do my fingerprints and photos.
The Customer support center that I called earlier this week led me to believe that the ASC would be able to issue me a temporary sticker there, so that I would have my authorisation to work, and the OK to leave the country at Xmas time.
It turned out this was not true, all they could do was do the fingerprints and photos, and I would have to go to the regular office for that.
This did not make me happy, in fact this made me cry....which turned out to work in my favour I guess. Once I explained my problems, a nice lady helped me out and got me a special referral appt at the office for Monday morning. Where I think they will be able to stamp my passport with something that should do the trick.
I also did my fingerprints, photos and signature for the new corrected card. The people on the phone said I would have to bring photos, so I spent $10 on that at Walmart on Fri, turns out I didn't need them, they take a digital pic there. My eyes were probably red, ha ha.

After that Mr jo and I parked in out favourite SF garage (St Mary's at Kearny and California) and went over to Chinatown. I was looking for a neck strap for my new camera. Turns out it was the Harvest Moon festival, so most of Grant was blocked off and there were stalls all along it. I got a little case that fits the camera perfectly, some brocade slippers, a Hello Kitty pillow that unzips into a little blanket (this is for my friend's almost 4 y.o. daughter Celeste, a total Hello Kitty freak), some sunnies with purple lenses (they will look great when I'm riding my scoot) and the most delightfully obnoxiously tacky chinese lantern that plays an incredibly loud tune, lights up and spins around.
Oh and I did find a great neck strap too!
Then we had lunch at a nice little middle eastern fast food type joint.

So the rest of the morning far outweighed the bad beginning.
I am now gonna go get my truck washed, drop the pillow off at my friend's place, then start work on the truck!!
Hopefully Monday morning I should have the worst of the Immigration stuff fixed, and I'll be OK to go on our Xmas cruise.
