Tired, but feeling good

Yeah well, apart from all this war crap!
Had lots of fun yesterday, despite being an absolute crap bowler. Got better once I had some beers.
Everyone seemed to have a really good time, so that was an awesome birthday present. Although I did get lots of lovely and crafty gifts, which was definate bonus! Now must be Miss Manners and write nice thank you notes!
Then after that, Mr jo, [livejournal.com profile] alero and I went up to the city to see [livejournal.com profile] afroflighty's poetry slam. It was really cool. I had never been to one before and really enjoyed it. I feel all hip now!
I had a bit of trouble 'processing' some of the speaking. Some of the poets spoke quite quickly, and I couldn't always get into their rythym. However, Aussies can speak v.quickly, so maybe it's the accents? I also seemed to have an easier time with the women poets. Interesting. One of the women, Cat, did a poem about her Mum who is dying of cancer which I definately id'd with, and I told her that I really liked it.
Also, Mr jo continually suprised me by knowing one of the poets there. A friend of his in New York, is her editor. She was crocheting, and had on these cool crocheted sleeves that she had made. We chatted briefly, and I'm gonna send her the info about our SnB at the park next Sunday.

Well, her crocheting in front of me tipped me off :)
When Chris was saying Hi to her, he was explaining how I knew you, thru the crafty connection. She got all interested, so I told her how we were going to SnBing this Sunday.
